Chiropractic literally means ‘hand action’ or ‘done by hand’ and this is largely what we do in our treatment of patients. Instead of drugs, medicines or machines, we correct mechanical dysfunctions in the body by using our hands. This is often in the form of a ‘manipulation’ described as a high velocity low amplitude thrust (which basically means a quick by gentle movement), ‘mobilisation’ which is a slower push to a joint resulting in improved movement, or ‘massage and soft tissue techniques.’

Chiropractors embrace new research in the field of neuro-musculoskeletal medicine and work within an evidence-based framework. This means you are likely to receive additional techniques as part of your treatment plan, including; western acupuncture (also known as dry needling), joint and muscular taping methods, or ultrasound to name a few.

Treatment techniques will vary from practitioner to practitioner so it is important that you find a Chiropractor that you feel comfortable and confident with. Here at Staines Chiropractic we are extremely proud of our team of Chiropractors and value their diversity and collaborative approach. They are constantly updating their knowledge and skill set and have regular meetings with each other to share information and discuss treatment techniques.
