An introduction to Chiropractic

We want to find out what your injury is, and understand why you have it to stop it from returning. Our team are experts in the mechanics of the body, trained to diagnose, treat and prevent problems with muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves. Chiropractic treatment focuses on posture and involves hands-on techniques including soft tissue work, mobilisations and adjustments to improve mobility. It can help to restore movement, improve the way the body functions and reduce pain.

At Staines Chiropractic, we want to find out what the injury is, but we also want to understand why you have the injury. If we can do this we can stop the injury from returning.

Chiropractic assessment in Staines

More than just back pain

Most people know chiropractors for their skill in treating the spine, but we look at how the whole body moves and functions and take your overall health into consideration. This means great results with injuries in other parts of the body too.

Our team here at Staines Chiropractic are well placed to treat:

  •   Back pain
  •   Neck pain
  •   Muscle strains
  •   Sciatica
  •   Arthritic pain
  •   Migraines and headaches
  •   Pain caused by sports injuries.

A large high quality research study concluded that,

“Spinal manipulation is effective in treating adults for low back pain, migraines and headache and dizziness conditions which originate from the neck. Manipulation is effective for several extremity joint conditions and thoracic (mid back) manipulation is effective in the treatment of acute and subacute neck pain.”

What to Expect

Assessment

Your initial consultation will begin with a full health history to enable your chiropractor to learn more about the condition for which you are seeking help and any other health concerns. This will be followed by a physical examination tailored to your needs and is likely to include tests involving the nerves, muscles and joints of the area of complaint and other areas which may be contributing.

Report of findings

Following your examination your chiropractor will talk through their findings with you and discuss a proposed plan for treatment going forward including the techniques that will be used and the likely number of sessions you will require to see results.

If X-rays, other imaging or further testing is required, your referral options will be discussed with you at this point.

Treatment and Exercises

Once you are happy with your treatment options and have had any questions you may have answered your first treatment can start!  This usually takes place within your first visit unless further tests such as X-rays are required.

“Lovely team, great modern clinic and they REALLY know their stuff!”
